Personal Growth Books

Welcome to my little book nook!

I’m so glad you’re here! Are you ready to dive into my personal selection of life changing books?

It’s important you know that I’ve only included books that deeply shaped my way of thinking and feeling. I’ve read hundreds of books however these are books that I hope will also inspire, challenge, and guide you on your journey to becoming the best version of yourself.

Remember, starting on a path of personal growth is about more than just reading – it’s about turning insights that you’ve gained into actionable changes in your life. That’s why I select books that are not only rich in content but also practical. Each one offers tangible strategies, exercises, and reflections that you can start using right away.

I know personal development is a deeply individual journey and what works for one might not work for another. This is a really important point. However I believe that if I can take just one thing from a book that will help me in life, then it’s been well worth the read. Keep this in mind.

I invite you to explore my selection and find the books that resonate most deeply with you. You never know, each page you turn may open a new door to possibility, bringing you one step closer to the life you want to live.

So grab a cuppa or a drink of your choice and ENJOY!

My carefully selected books for Personal Growth

Eckhart Tolle - A New Earth (read maybe 2012)

I read this book many years ago, like maybe 15 years ago. It was the first book that opened my eyes and mind to another way of thinking. I find some books covering philosophical topics can go over my head however this is a relatively simple read. It remains on my bookshelf, very yellow from age, who knows when I may feel the urge to pick it up again. The crux of the book is about living in the present moment, not the past and not the future. If you’re ready to open your mind to a new way of thinking, a new perspective, then I recommend it.

Gabrielle Bernstein - Judgment Detox (read 2015)

This was the book that started it all! I was doing a one year Life Coaching course at the time and Gabby was (and still is), an extremely popular influencer in the self help space. It wasn’t until I read this book that I realised my biggest fear in life was the fear of not being good enough! Boy did I wish I read it sooner. It was definitely where my journey of deeper self discovery started. I’ve also read more of her books, Miracles Now and The Universe Has Your Back, I really like her.

Michael Singer - The Untethered Soul (read 2020)

I love this book! I loved it so much I bought copies for people in my life who I knew would be open to reading it. This one is all about our thoughts and emotions yet it’s written in a simple way that’s easy to just ‘get’. I’ve also read the book after this one, Living Untethered which I also loved but The Untethered Soul remains my favourite. It’s a book I’d easily pick up again and read.

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself - (read 2021 to 2022)

Okay, so this was the year I got into Dr Joe Dispenza in a BIG way! I knew of his work a few years before but it was only in 2021 that I was drawn to him. And let’s just say the love for him continues. Dr Joe puts the science behind how our thoughts and feelings equal our personal reality. I think he invests so much into the science to prove to the science community that his work is not pseudoscience. And to be honest, I do like evidence based concepts vs the woo woo. I’ve have all of his books but I found this one the easiest to read!

Arnold Schwarzenegger - Be Useful (read 2023)

Before you judge me, stay with me for a minute. I’m far from an Arnie fan, I never credited him for being a decent actor let alone an author. BUT. This book was recommended and I went in with an open mind. Guess what I learned? Yep, there is more to Arnie than meets the eye. I actually enjoyed this read. His drive and resilience is inspiring. So if you’re in between books and looking for an easy read, give this one a chance.

Gay Hendricks - The Big Leap (read 2024)

Oh. My. Goodness. I love this guy! He’s been around for years (so have his books) and as I write this, he’s 79 years of age! I came across this book through a friend and it’s probably one of the simplest books I’ve read in the self help space. I laugh because I can’t get enough of this guy right now.  I’ve gone on to read his other books – The Genius Zone, Learning to Love Yourself, Conscious Luck and I’m half way through At the Speed of Life. The book is about taking your life to the next level. It offers some practical exercises throughout, which I love, and I highly recommend grabbing a copy!
